PE & Sports Funding
We are very fortunate to have different areas around our school where children can be active during their playtimes. The nature area provides a natural environment where children can den build and enjoy running in the woodland space. The large wheeled toy area is full of exciting bikes, trikes and scooters. The grassed area provides space for using the trim track and a small football pitch.
On the playground children enjoy using the smaller play equipment, balls, hoops and target games as well as playing netball, basketball and using our new table tennis table.
The Sports Premium Grant has enabled Scorton School to join the Garstang Sports Partnership. This gives access to specialist coaching, competitive tournaments, staff training and Inset and the opportunity for our pupils to train and compete with their peers from other local schools.
All pupils have at least 2 PE lessons each week. We are able to provide swimming lessons throughout the year at Garstang Swimming Pool. In 2014 Scorton CE Primary School were the winners of the Inter Schools Swimming Gala.
PE is taught by fully trained PE staff or coaches and we are able to use our Sports Premium money to further train 2 members of staff to enhance their skills.
Indoor PE is taught in the hall which is located in the village. We have a full range of gym equipment including mats, boxes, a gym horse, climbing frame and ropes.
Our ‘Gifted and Talented ‘Provision also allows us to identify pupils who would benefit from meeting with their peers and working together to develop skills in PE further.
Scorton School participate in numerous competitive sporting events throughout the year including:
- indoor and outdoor football
- indoor and outdoor high 5 netball
